Dear Parents,

My name is Ms. M. Gonzalez and I will be your child’s Math teacher this school year.  I would like to take this opportunity to welcome my parents and students to Fifth Grade.  Hopefully you have had a restful summer and are ready for an exciting year.   I hope during the upcoming months to foster a love of Math in each and every child.

Home Learning

Students will attend Math class Monday through Friday for an hour each day.  Home Learning assignments will be given daily.  Special projects will also be given throughout the school year.  Please remember that each child is also required to read for 30 minutes each night.  It is instrumental for you to provide a quiet place and time for your child to complete all of his/her Math assignments and reading.

Your child will be expected to return all home learning assignments each day.  Failure to complete assignments will affect their academic and effort grade.  This course will prepare your child for the Math portion of the 5^th Grade FCAT test.

Supplies Needed Every Day:

·         1 backpack (NO ROLLING BOOKBAGS)

·         1 GREEN Duo-Tang folder labeled Math

·         Notebook paper

·         1 zippered cloth pencil case (no boxes)

·         2 blue pens

·         2 red pens

·         1 set of highlighters

·         4 yellow #2 pencils

·         1 small closed sharpener

·         1 glue stick

·         1 small set of colored pencils

·         1 twelve inch ruler
